Dear Sir/Madam
I would like to make you aware that the Department for Transport, Local
Government and the Regions (DTLR) has published a Motorcycle Parking
Traffic Advisory Leaflet.
You may be aware of the leaflet or already provide secure parking for
motorcycles and have taken into account the needs of motorcyclists in the
Local Transport Plans.
The leaflet contains advice to Highway Authorities and other providers of
parking facilities.
It sets out how the needs of motorcyclists can be met effectively by
making available high quality, secure and accessible parking for
motorcycles. The leaflet offers a source of practical information, drawing
on the experience of a number of UK local authorities and the Motorcycle
Action Group through the Advisory Group on Motorcycling.
For your information copies of the leaflet are available from the Traffic
Advisory Unit, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR (Tel 020-7944-2478) or
can be viewed and downloaded at
www.roads.dtlr.gov.uk/roadnetwork/ditm/tal/fullindex.htm.
The Motorcycle Action Group also produces "A Guide to the Design and
Provision of Secure Parking for Motorcycles" which can be viewed and
downloaded from their website at
http://www.mag-uk.org/publications/guides/secure_2002-04.pdf
Thank you for your time and consideration, if you require any further
information on motorcycle user groups and are considering including secure
parking facilities in Local Transport Plans.
You can contact the Motorcycle Action Group at MAG UK, PO BOX 750, Rugby,
CV21 3ZR to provide a point of contact for transport strategy.
Yours sincerely
