26-07-10 EU safety proposals taking the wrong direction say riders
The European Commission, the body that effectively governs the European Union, has published new plans to halve the number of road deaths by 2020. UK riders' representative organisation, the Motorcycle Action Group, has joined the Federation of European Motorcyclists' Associations to warn that the plans will result in a worse deal for riders without delivering improved road safety.
 
21-07-10 MPs promote motorcycling for the young.
Stephen Pound, MP for Ealing North, tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament on Monday 19th July, calling on the Government to provide stable funding to promote the Wheels to Work scheme for young people.

North East MAG had a very constructive meeting with the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (TWITA)on Friday. Following the Tyne Tunnel Demo at the end of May, the door was opened to a meeting between MAG and the Tunnel authorities and it was very productive.

Under Secretary of State, Mike Penning MP, agreed yesterday to open a new motorcycle rider testing facility in Ceredigion Mid Wales, as a stop gap measure to try and halt the terminal decline in the motorcycle industry in Wales.

Working with Ceredigion County Council, MAG has secured free parking for 100 motorcycles on the Promenade in Aberystwyth. This has been a popular gathering place for riders for many years, but due to the random availability of parking, there have been calls to ban bikes entirely from the vicinity, so this is excellent news. Rory Wilson and the MAG activitists in Aberystwyth have done an excellent job to secure a future for riders meeting in the town.
