Northern Ireland's Environment Minister Alex Attwood has tabled plans in the Northern Ireland Assembly that aim to radically overhaul driver licensing law. With mention of aiming for zero road casualties, the plans appear muddled and, when it comes to motorcycling, ill-conceived.

Over 150 riders came to Alf England Motorcycles in Bedworth on Friday night, to meet the new West Midlands Liberal Democrat MEP Phil Bennion. The MAG organised event attracted every type of machine, from scooters to trikes.

In another MAG organised Riders Are Voters event, Philip Bennion MEP (Lib Dem) will be speaking to riders and taking questions at Alf England Motorcycles in Bedworth, tonight. Gathering from 7.30pm, the event starts at 8pm and you are welcome to ask him anything about the new EU Type Approval Regulation, the new bike licence laws or the legislative process within Europe for example. Philip Bennion is new to the post, having taken over from Liz Lynne who retired a couple of months ago, and due to MAG's letter writing campaign is only too aware of the new Regulation so is keen to meet riders and get up to speed on the subject.

From 19 January 2013 all countries within the E U will need to comply with the 3rd EU Driving Licence Directive (3DLD), which was passed in 2006. As a result trikes will move from car licence entitlement and in future will be covered by bike riding licences (depending on when you passed your test, see below).

Changes planned for the Isle of Man GP could have a really negative impact on the event. The proposed changes include shortening the two-week festival to 10 days, reducing the number of modern races, bringing in professional riders and moving the focus to classic racing.

In response to questions asked in the House of Commons last week by Steve Baker MP (Wycombe), the Secretary of State for Transport Norman Baker has acknowledged that the EU Commission has no evidence on which to base its anti-modification proposals.

Peterborough MAG have managed to expand MAG's Diesel Spills kill campaign. Enterprise Peterborough who manage the council vehicle fleet, have agreed to put MAG stickers on every vehicle, warning operators of the risk to bikers if they overfill the diesel tanks or fail to secure the caps.

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has added it's voice to the outcry over the case of motorcyclist Robert Whiteford, who has been refused compensation after his right leg was amputated when a lorry cut across a bend near Ely in April 2009.

Yesterday saw another MAG meeting with an MEP to discuss the impending EU motorcycle Type Approval Regulation.
