29-09-08 Ministers urged to stop bike test rip-off
MAG today called on the Department for Transport to prevent 40,000 new riders from being ripped-off by unjustified increases to test fees. In February of this year, Parliament agreed a 33% increase in the cost of a bike test to cover the costs of a new, longer test from 29 September 2008. Despite not implementing the test as planned, the cost of a motorcycle rider test has increased from ?60 to ?80.
 
25-09-08 Daytime Running Lights no substitute for driver awareness
The European Commission says road casualties will be reduced by introducing dedicated high visibility Daytime Running Light (DRL) on all new cars and commercial vehicles from the year 2011. MAG says: ?The fundamental problem faced by riders and other vulnerable road users is drivers? lack of awareness and attention."
 
19-09-08 European motorcyclists' group seeks new Campaigns Officer
The Federation of European Motorcyclists' Associations is looking for a CAMPAIGNS OFFICER. FEMA represents riders' interests within the European Union institutions and the United Nations. If you are a dynamic individual, male or female, interested in joining the FEMA Secretariat working full time in Brussels starting in the new year, then make an application before 10th October 2008.
 
11-09-08 New test disaster averted - motorcycle lobby wins U-turn
Following two years of hard campaigning, the DSA have announced an eleventh-hour delay to the introduction of an extended practical test for new motorcycle riders.
 
10-09-08 MAG Campaigns Manager to lead new government fraud-busting initiative.
MAG Campaigns Manager, David Short, is moving on to a new job coordinating law enforcement activity across the Yorkshire and Humberside region to deal with rogue traders. Nich Brown (recently appointed as General Secretary of MAG) will take-over from David in the interim.

Weston and North Somerset MAG have announced the GWR Rally - due to be held this weekend (5-7 September) has been called off due to flooding.
 
03-09-08 SAFERIDER project - riders provide vital 'reality check'
FEMA - the voice of European motorcycle groups - has today issued a statement about the EU SAFERIDER project on new safety technology for motorcycles. "We can no longer afford to simply shout our disapproval after decisions have been made - we must be at the centre of the debates on transport and on the future of mobility if we want to steer governments and research organisations in the right direction" says the FEMA Research Steering Group.
