03-10-2011 MAG's 1st National Classic Bike Show in association with Royal Enfield

Brilliant weather saw over 4,000 riders attending our first National Classic Bike Show in Towcester, Northants, on Sunday 2nd October.

So popular was the day at Jack's Hill Cafe, that although we only officially opened at 10am, the show itself was over subscribed by 10.45 and we had to close entry, which was a real shame as so many amazing machines just kept appearing. We were even graced with the only Tornax 200 in the country, a 1952 German marque.

Full report will be in the next issue of The Road magazine and pictures will be available on facebook soon.

Huge thanks to everyone who came and to Royal Enfield who sponsored the day and who had 5 of their new models on show and available for test rides, which proved very popular.

Most thanks however, must go to the organiser Neil Daniell and his incredibly dedicated MAG volunteers who did an amazing job marshalling numbers of attendees far in excess of what we initially expected. The heat of the day put enormous strain on the volunteers from Rushden, Towcester, Rugby, Coventry, Studley and East Anglian MAG groups, yet they didn't complain once- real dedication to Riders' Rights.

Definitely a date for next year!

Winners of the various classes were:

Pre 1949- Alan Jennings, BSA 500 sidevalve

1950s- Adrian Kolenika, 1952 Tornax V200

1960s- Bob Wisdom, Triumph T120R

1970s- David Sketchley, 1972 Suzuki GT750

1980s- Robert Payne 1983 Triumph TSX, one of the very last to leave Meriden.

Best in Show and a great reflection of the relaxed and friendly attitude to the day, was Bub's 1965 Lambretta TV200
