06-06-2017 MAG’s West Midlands region highlighting motorcycle theft problem

Brum Demo

MAG continues to raise awareness of the issue of motorcycle theft with an event aimed at helping riders to protect their machines.

MAG’s West Midlands region is hosting a Motorcycle Security event in a bid to help bikers protect their machines from the ever-present threat of bike theft, which is reaching epidemic proportions in many of the country’s major cities.
Colin Brown, MAG’s Political Officer for the region, stated “Bike theft continues to rise, not just locally, but nationally: it is widely recognised that bike theft has become a very big issue, with many bikes and scooters being stolen for use in other crimes.  The problem is widespread, especially in our cities”.
With police forces overstretched and battling limited resources, MAG is working hard to play its part in reducing the problem.  Colin adds “we are working with Crime Prevention Officers and the Assistant PCC, as well as lobbying councils for improved secure parking facilities”.
The Security event will take place at Cannon Hill Park, on Saturday 1st July 2017, starting at 2.00 pm and finishing around 5.00 pm.  Arrangements have been made for provision of discounts on marking kits, and alarm and tracker fitting, plus security-related raffle prizes and information stands such as Sold Secure.
The annual Brum Demo takes place on the same day, setting off from The Old Hare & Hounds, Lickey Road, Rednal, B45 8UU at 1.00 pm (meet from midday) with its finish point in Cannon Hill Park, to mark the start of the Security event.
Individual MAG membership is just £27.00 a year: surely a price worth paying for all the benefits and protection MAG gives to the biking community on this and many other riders rights issues.  To join, visit http://www.mag-uk.org/en/membership/, call our office or speak to a MAG member.

We also offer several levels of corporate membership for businesses who feel they could support MAG.  Please contact Central Office for further details.
