10-12-2010 MAG launches GET A GRIP campaign at Carole Nash Motorcycle Live Show

The colour and pazzaz of the recent Motorcycle Show at the NEC, was supplemented by the hundreds of black and orange GET A GRIP balloons that were seen throughout the 9 day event.

GET A GRIP is a campaign for consistent road grip levels, starting with addressing the problem of slippery iron manhole covers.

This 19th Century technology has no place on 21st century roads. They offer no grip to two wheelers, or horses for that matter, and they are a hazard that doesn't need to exist.

MAG reckons that enough is enough and it’s about time we all GET A GRIP.

We want our tyres to have a consistent grip of the road surface and we want councils and utility companies to GET A GRIP of their responsibilities. But we aren’t whinging and moaning, we are doing something about it. In these cash strapped times we also want to help councils GET A GRIP of their road maintenance budgets. It costs about two grand to do all the legal niceties before a set of temporary traffic lights can be put in place and a road gang can fix a dodgy manhole cover, or more often just the broken tarmac around it?

That money could be saved if a manhole cover was fitted that didn’t break, rust, move in its frame, or regularly get nicked for its scrap value. There’d be even more money saved if they were lightweight and workers didn’t wreck their backs moving them.

GET A GRIP OF THE ROAD,

GET A GRIP OF THE SAFETY and

GET A GRIP OF THE COST
