Another Council begins trials of composite non-slip access covers

Following recent Get A Grip! presentations, Powys County Council is the newest Local Authority to agree to undertake a trial of SSC composite non-slip access covers.

In the light of increasing litigation from accidents and the raft of ductile iron cover thefts in other parts of the country, Powys is keen to move forward with the new technology.

Also in Wales, MAG’s Paddy Tyson and Mike Mallen recently spent a morning with the Highways Dept of Vale of Glamorgan Council. They, like many authorities MAG is meeting, were not fully aware of the problems that 2 wheel users face on the highway and were very interested in the advances of non-slip overbanding, road markings and access covers.

Let’s hope the Vale of Glamorgan follow Powy’s example and look more closely at specifying some of the new products on the  market, for use on the region’s roads.
