Confirmation of yet more delay on France’s breathalyser law


After November’s postponement until March 2013 of the introduction of the compulsory carrying of Breathalysers, the policy appears to have now been delayed ‘indefinitely’.

MAG has been following this and other recent French stories on slightly odd Road Safety initiatives and the new admininstration under President Hollande has it seems been slowly trying to distance itself from many of them.

The idea of introducing a fine for failure to carry an unused breathalyser always smacked of commercial interest, so it will be interesting to see if the idea dies completely.
