IMCO vote on EU Regulation postponed to 17th Oct

The Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee, which has been discussing the 305 amendments to the proposed EU Type Approval Regulation.

The intention was to vote on 6th October, but the vote has been postponed until 17th October, with the EU Parliament then timetabled to vote on the 14th November.

MAG’s General Secretary Nich Brown has another meeting arranged with IMCO Chairman on 6th October to further clarify their stance on certain amendments ahead of the vote.

MAG has now seen the UK Government’s stance on each of the amendments; which it supports and which it will not support, but this does not shed any light on what will be taken foward from IMCO to the Parliamentary vote in November. It does however, give us hope for ‘Council’ stage of the legislative process, where National Governments have their say on proceedings.
