MAG’s opening rally of the year breaks all records

The weekend of the May 2-4 saw the Motorcycle Action Group’s rally season get under way with the ‘Into the Valley’ rally which was held in the picturesque parkland of Sledmere House in East Yorkshire.

The sun shone, the skies were blue and over 2,500 bikers took to the roads to converge on the rally. With great bands, trade stands and a bar selling real ales the weekend was one big party. Rally goers were impressed with MAG’s record of defending riders rights and over 68 people signed up for MAG membership. Over 40 existing members renewed their membership on site. The staff recruiting on the MAG stand ran out of membership forms and had to improvise, no one was turned away. The numbers attending the rally and the memberships taken was a record for this event.

MAG Campaigns Manager, David Short, said, ‘This was a fantastic start to the rally season and a springboard for the future of MAG. A lot of people have worked very hard over the last year on the MAG relaunch to expand the appeal to all bikers. We received loads of positive feedback on the work MAG is involved in and its highly visible profile defending riders rights. Rallies and MAG memberships are the key to providing funds which are crucial to effective campaigning. Above all MAG is about having fun in great surroundings with like minded friends. If you haven’t been to a MAG rally now is the time to put that right. The Farmyard is the next big rally taking place over the weekend of the June 20-22 in Helmsley. Come and join us and be part of the fastest growing riders rights organisation.

MAG President and founder member Ian Mutch said, “It’s great to get the year off to such a good start. Remember supporting MAG events fuels our ability to protect motorcycling.”
